Azonban ebben az esetben csak a nap energiájára támaszkodhatunk, így borús, hideg napokon már nem ajánlott a fürdés. De ha télen is szeretné használni a medencéjét az sem elképzelhetetlen, hiszen hőszigetelt medencefedéseket is építünk, amiknek köszönhetően mind a 4 évszakban élvezheti az úszás, pancsolás örömeit. A kivitelezés előtt érdemes eldönteni, hogy melyik megoldásra van valóban szükségük, mivel a hőszigetelt változat lényegesen magasabb befektetést igényel. Egy időszakosan használt nyaraló esetében indokolatlanul megnövelné a költségeket.

A medencék esetében az eltolható megoldást szokták gyakrabban kérni, hiszen így a forró nyári napokon szinte teljes egészében összezárható a fedés és élvezhető a természetes napfény. Nem mellesleg a kert összességére nézve is esztétikusabb megoldás, azonban vannak esetek, amikor a hőszigetelt medencefedés praktikai szempontokból nézve sokkal előnyösebb.
